Anatomy of the Pancreas
Where the Pancreas is located
Cross Section of the Pancreas

Anatomically the pancreas can be divided into three parts, head, body and tail. The head is embedded in the wall of the duodenum.

The beta-cells are distributed throughout the pancreas and form the majority of the hormone producing cells. The rest of the pancreas contains cells (exocrine part) that produce enzymes that are necessary for digestion of carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
